Diferencias en el cambio del umbral estándar (STS - Standard Threshold Shift) auditivo en trabajadores de dos empresas del rubro metal mecánica

Introducción: La exposición a ruido laboral tiene mucho impacto en la salud de un operario y la calidad de vida de los trabajadores. Para poder monitorizar los cambios en la pérdida de la audición podemos trabajar en base al estudio del cambio del umbral Estandar (“Standard Threshold Shift”), que nos ayuda a identificar los primeros cambios que se observan en la audiometría, y que no son evidenciados clínicamente, y que podría comportarse como una “señal de advertencia temprana”. El objetivo del estudio fue evaluar los efectos auditivos del ruido laboral en dos empresas, mediante el cambio en un año del umbral estándar auditivo (STS – Standard Theshold Shift). Métodos: Realizamos un análisis secundario de las audiometrías de trabajadores expuestos a ruido de más de 80 dB, comparando un antes y un después en un periodo de un año, para lo cual diseñamos un estudio de cohorte retrospectivo. La variable resultado fue el cambio en el umbral estándar auditivo (STS) y la variable de exposición la empresa en la cual el trabajador laboró en el último año, solo una de las empresas contó con un Programa de Conservación Auditiva (PCA). Para evaluar las diferencias en el STS, después de un año, realizamos una prueba de Chi2 de Pearson y un Modelo Lineal Generalizado para el cálculo de razones de riesgo crudas (RRc) y ajustadas (RRa). Resultados: Un total de 264 registros de audiometrías fueron analizadas, 211 pertenecientes a una empresa con un PCA y 53 a una empresa que únicamente brindaba evaluaciones básicas ocupacionales. A nivel basal se encontraron diferencias en las categorías de edad (p = 0.011), sexo (p = 0.013) y tiempo trabajando en la empresa (p < 0.001).
